Cedar Grove Mansion and gardens are the foundation of Vicksburg’s Historic Garden District and are listed on the National Historic Register.
The Inn at Cedar Grove is the pride of Vicksburg and a favorite venue for wedding receptions, anniversary parties, family reunions, ladies’ weekends, and business meetings intended to impress. Historic Vicksburg, Mississippi is famous for being the end of the Blues Musical Trail, and the military siege that lasted seven weeks during the American Civil War. The city is Located on a high bluff of the East Bank of the Mississippi River across from Louisiana. It's about halfway between Memphis, TN, and New Orleans, LA. Vicksburg sits also sits along Interstate 20 about halfway between Dallas, TX, and Atlanta, GA. There are a lot of independent restaurants, shops, and museums for guests to enjoy. The National Military Park is the most popular tourist attraction in the state and generates a lot of visitors. Vicksburg has become even more famous in recent years for its ghost stories.
Considered The Crown Jewel of Vicksburg, The Inn at Cedar Grove is a local favorite place to take visitors, host important business meetings, and celebrate milestone life events. Part of the charm of Cedar Grove is that the mansion survived a Civil War siege. The house was built by jeweler, banker, and businessman John Alexander Klein and his wife Elizabeth. Guests, can't help but look at the holes left by canon fire in the house and photograph the canon ball still lodged in the wall of the grand parlor. It's believed that both William Tecumson Sherman and Ulysses S. Grant stayed there as Elizabeth Klein was related to General Sherman. General Sherman helped her escape the city before the siege during her pregnancy so she named her son Willie Sherman Klein in his honor.
